Man City 2 - 1 United

Valencia(Scholes) Fletcher Anderson(Owen) Carrick Giggs

United started brightly and Giggs opened the score after 20 minutes. It was all about United dominating possesion, however, City, who were playing like a bunch of kids, were given a way in the game when Mike Dean awarded an inexistant penalty. City and particularly Tevez didn't need a second invitation and from that point on they managed to trouble our defence which was all over the place at times. The final 20 minutes were all about United. We attacked relentlessly but Given, arguably the best keeper in England, managed to perform miracles between the City posts.

Once again the 4-5-1 formation backfired on United. We had more possesion, true, but Rooney was too isolated. Whenever Rooney had the ball you'd see 3 City players marking him. When Owen entered in the field of play and Rooney dropped deeper we had our best chances of the match and only a couple of excellent saves by Shay Given denied us the draw. I hope in 8 days time Fergie reverts to a 4-4-2 formation. Rooney cannot keep playing as a sole striker, he needs support.

I don't think United deserved to lose this match. City did have a couple of good chances but we had much more! Tevez, who scored 2 goals, showed that he's a complete jackass with his actions on the field. He was their best player, I admit, but his gestures towards Fergie and the United faithful were unasked for. He should know better.

Anyway, I really can't wait for next week. A week that marks the start of my University exams and a week which will give us a chance to batter City at OT. If we play the way we did during the final 20 minutes, I'd put my money and my mama's house on beating the bitters at OT. We should NEVER let City go to Wembley at our expense, we should be fully concentrated. Today we've seen Rafael given a yellow card for committing one foul, Bellamy nearly murdered our players on the field and didn't receive a yellow, the ref also gave City an inexistant penalty, we've seen a goalie performing miracles, we've also seen a ball cleared off the line and next week we'll see City eliminated from this Cup and I'm pretty damn sure about it.
