Arsenal 1 - 3 United

Fergie opted for his 4-5-1 formation yet again and it has reaped great dividends for the second time this week. Nani had a jaw dropping first half. His movement was superb and he had a say in both the goals scored during the first 45 minutes, however, he had a quiet second half. Rooney kept showing what a truly magnificent player he is by scoring a goal and creating countless of spaces. He could have scored another hat-trick today! Park wrapped the game up with a good run and an even greater finish. Arsenal, to their credit, did create something in the last 15 minutes. An own goal by Evans put them back in the match and I think they could have easily got something out of this match if they hadn't been so wasteful in front of goal.

Anyway, it was United's day simply because our players were outstanding. I've already praised Nani and Rooney but another person who really had a cracker of a match was young Rafael. At first I thought he was going to be troubled by the tricks of Arsenal's winger but the Brazilian defended superbly. Scholes, once again, commanded our midfield while Carrick produced some quality passing and Fletcher battled hard. Brown and Evans defended superbly and Evra, well, he was his usual self!

All in all I'm pretty pleased with our performance. Today's match shares some similarities with last year's Champions League Semi-Final - The scoreline, a masterclass from a young Portuguese, a goal by Park(something rare), a breath taking run for one of the goals(which was a result of an Arsenal corner) and a late late goal for the Gunners. Luckily, this year, the ref didn't decide to send Fletcher off! Bring on Portsmouth!
