The Hull City players were sent out to try and still be in the tie by the second leg. They frustrated United by putting a lot of bodies behind the ball. Our players still found a way through City’s defence but some of our finishing war erratic and their goalie managed to save the shots that our players got right.

The game (and the tie) could have been put to bed during the first half. Mata could have scored inside the first five minutes and Mkhitaryan should have scored two but missed the target both times. We missed a few good chances during the second half too as Rooney could have become United’s all time top-scorer after an exquisite pass by Pogba. Unfortunately, he missed the target from an ideal position. Pogba’s passing was excellent. Reminded me of another Paul J

Mata opened the score from an offside position and Fellaini scored the all important second goal late in the game. It was great to see Fellaini run to Mourinho and hug him after his goal. Mourinho believes in our Belgian and kept believing in him even after Maroune's disastrous cameo vs. Everton and the eventual boos from our own supporters vs. Tottenham. I always believed Fellaini is a good squad player, especially if we want to defend a lead.

It will be very difficult for Hull to score three against us and get themselves in the final. Unless something disastrous happens, we should be in the final of the English League Cup. Silverware is silverware so it is important to win this cup....especially if the final is against Liverpool. Ha!

Liverpool are our next EPL opponents. I feel confident but hey, in footy you never know!
