Derby 1 - 4 United

Foster
Rafael Rio Evans Evra(O'Shea)
Park(Welbeck) Fletcher Gibson Nani
Ronaldo(Possebon) Giggs

A mixture of youth and experience did the trick in this match as UNITED demolished a spirited yet classless Derby side. The difference in the level was there for all to see, United simply outclassed Derby. Nani scored a beauty, Gibson scored from outside the area, Ronaldo scored a fine header and Welbeck completed the icing on the cake with an outstanding finish.

I am very pleased with Nani’s performance today. He showed he could retire his selfishness and play for the team. I hope he does the same whenever he is called to play. Gibson had a good game at the heart of the midfield and Rafael was terrific at right back. Welbeck also showed his class and Giggs was majestic with some clever runs, passes and dummies. Foster played well too.

For those who watched the match, you are probably still trying to phantom what on earth was the assistant ref doing when he waved Ronaldo’s goal offside a minute or so after scoring. Pathetic refereeing once again, these silly and unexplainable mistakes are damping the beautiful game.

United will visit either Swansea or Fulham in the quarter-final. Meanwhile our next Premier League match is vs Fulham. I expect a win, maybe 3-0? We’ll wait a see.
