United 2 - 1 Everton

In form
Although United had a very uneasy finish to the game, I thought they actually played really well today. I had just told my friend that I was relaxed and enjoying the game and then, 10 seconds later, Pogba stupidly and unnecessarily lost possession which lead to Everton winning a penalty and getting back in the game. Smalling made a very rash tackle to concede the penalty but Pogba must shoulder most of the blame. He was having a very good game, scoring (albeit missing the penalty after yet another ridiculous run to the spot) and setting up Martial. He's a very good player but I think sometimes he thinks he's better than he actually is. It's either that or he's super naive. Thanks to him the final fifteen minutes were very uncomfortable.

Our defence wasn't really troubled. DDG only had a couple of routine saves to make. Young was probably our best defender and Lindelof was quite good yet again. Matic is most definitely the coach's pet because he absolutely does not deserve to be starting games at the moment, yet he's there week in week out. Far too pedestrian for my liking. Fred and Mata were ok. Lukaku was dropped for this game and I agreed with Mourinho's decision. I thought we looked better up front but that's not because Rashford did anything noteworthy.  Romelu only played for like 20 minutes and managed to miss another easy chance. If this guy's good at something, it's headers. Today he missed an easy header which shows that his confidence is down in the dumps.

Martial is absolutely buzzing at the moment. He won us the penalty and then scored a brilliant goal to give us a two goal lead. He could have scored our third a few minutes before the end of the game but somehow missed. There's no doubting this guy's talent and he'll definitely be keeping his place in the starting XI. Thankfully, Mourinho realised that Alexis hasn't been good enough and gave Martial a few starts that showed that he's still got it. I also decided to get him in my fantasy Premier League, so fingers crossed he keeps this current form up.

Bournemouth next. That'll be a tough game.
