United 0 - 0 Valencia

Boring. Depressing. Shite. Three words that describe our performance tonight. I didn't expect much because I am slowly accepting that we've become a shadow of what we used to be. The pundits on BT Sport were saying that Mourinho will be pretty pleased with a draw tonight and that pretty much explains our current sorry state. We drew, at home, against a team that only won one game this season. A team that lost to Juventus when playing against 10 men for more than an hour.

In reality this is a poor result. Will United win vs. Juve (both games) and away to Valencia? I doubt it. The game away to Valencia will probably decide if we go through or not. We'll probably end up in the Europa League which is not really where we want to be if we look at the football side of things. I know that our away fans have a ball whenever United play away and the Europa League gives them an opportunity to visit new cities and stadia. But I wasn't born in England and thus watch United from home and the Europa League is definitely not where I want to see United playing.

Rashford was one of a handful of players who genuinely looked like he was trying to do something. Yes, his corner kicks were absolutely dreadful but he was trying to do something about the result. Marcus, Chris and Eric were our best players tonight. Lukaku was dreadful. He looks short of confidence. His movement was poor and failed to convert a free header. Sanchez had two good moves but that's just about it and it's not good enough. His best performance in a United shirt remains when he played the piano on the day our club announced him. Pogba showed glimpses of brilliance on a few occasions but was still very frustrating. Why the fuck was he laughing and hugging their players after the game? Do that shit in the tunnel, not in front of the cameras. Us fans are currently hurt and that image of Pogba laughing comes across as if he doesn't care. Shaw and Valencia should have attacked more while Matic and Fellaini were average. DDG was largely untested.

There was a lot of talk of Mourinho getting the sack after the disaster last weekend. I want him gone but I honestly have no idea who should replace him. The good managers, bar Zidane, are all employed at the moment and, is Zidane really a right fit for us? I know he's won three Champions League trophies and a Liga but I feel that we need a manager who's capable of rebuilding a Manchester United worthy squad. Zidane had a team of superstars. Perhaps his biggest feat is controlling the egos in the Real Madrid dressing room, something Mourinho has failed to do at United. Anyhow, at United I feel that the backbone on which to build a team is there but a lot of work needs to be done before we can seriously challenge City, Chelsea and, as much as I hate to say it, Liverpool. But that's something for the board to worry about. At the moment I just wish they would just do the inevitable and pull the plug on Jose. It's better to stop the rot as soon as possible.

Looking at the fixtures below, things are probably going to get messier. I can see 3 to 4 losses there. And United nowadays manage to fuck up the winnable games too so it might be more games lost than I expect. Oh well.
