United 1 - 2 City

Another day to forget for Lukaku
If there were any doubts whether Man City are better than United, then those doubts were definitely squashed today. Manchester City were better than us throughout the game with the exception of, maybe, fifteen minutes (5 minutes just after City scored their first goal and another 10 minutes after half time).  We must admit that they're a bloody good team. Let’s not forget that Man City managed to dominate a game played at Old Trafford, a place where United last lost a game in 2016. They are a very good football team, a team that will win the Premier League and, I fear, have a very good chance of doing very very well in Europe.

The way City pass the ball around is exceptional. Our players were chasing shadows for long spells of the game. However, for all the possession they had, City only managed to score two very scruffy goals. Both goals were very avoidable. Lukaku should have done better in the action that led to their first goal and he should have done much much much better in the action that led to City’s second. To make matters worse, Romelu then missed a very good chance at the other end of the pitch after shooting straight at their goalie’s face. Was a bit unlucky there but it looks like luck has totally deserted or big Belgian.

We did not deserve to score a goal but Rashford did manage to get one to his name just before half-time after some sloppy City defending. I thought that was the game’s turning point, and it did look like we were oozing confidence at the start of the second half but that soon changed as City started to control the game again.

It was so frustrating seeing United trying to play the long-ball game, which was not working at all. We only started passing when City got their noses in front. I saw the half-time pass tally and it was something like 75 passes for United and more than 300 for City. This game is yet another reminder that United without Pogba are average, we really missed him today.

Title dreams are now over. It sucks to have the title race over in December but that’s exactly what we’ve got on our hands. We’ll have to settle for a cup, just like last year. Sometimes you've got to admit that another football team is better than yours. Come on United!
