United 1 - 0 Roma

Kuzchak
O’Shea Rio Vida Evra
Ronaldo Carrick Scholes Nani
Rooney Saha

So United played Roma for the 3rd time in less than 6 months or so. This game was a different as Chalk and Cheese from the 7-1 win last season. A moment of brilliance from Rooney sealed another 1-0 win.

The first half offered little notable actions, surprise surprise! All shots on goal weren’t threatening except for a Rooney shot, who with all respect, should have done better. The First half ended 0-0, no surprises there now we’re used to that half time score line.
United kicked off the second half quite promisingly, in fact Nani somehow hit the bar from an angled cross. Minutes later a Wayne Rooney shot was saved by the Roma goalkeeper. Saha who had a quiet performance was replaced by Tevez, and United scored instantly but the goal was rightly disallowed. But the deadlock was broken seconds later when Rooney finished off a brilliant build up by United with Nani being the assist. Roma could have scored had it not been a great tackle by Ferdinand. Roma were once again dangerous but thankfully they have an Idiot called Perrotta who didn’t realize that he was at the mercy of an open goal and decided to pass. A right idiot at the right place and time! Roma kept insisting and were clearly the better team in the last 10 minutes, to make matters worse Ronaldo had to leave the field since he got elbowed but the referee finally whistled the end of the match to my relief.

Another 3 points in the champions league and I believe another 6 points from 4 matches should do the job. The match ignited in its latter stages, namely after the Rooney goal when Roma could have scored on more than 1 occasion. Although it is clear that the Man Utd defence isn’t confident in Kuzczak, he had a good game. We know that we’ve got a good cover in case of Van der Sar’s absence. Although I’m desperate to see United score more goals a 1-0 win in the Champions league, against an Italian side is good. Beating an Italian team always makes my day, especially a team which contains a certain player called Totti. I never liked him, and never will!

Overall it was a great defensive display, and an average attacking display. But it was better than some of this season’s premiership matches. I’m happy with the result but desperate to see United play like last season.

Ratings: Kus-7, O’shea-6, Ferdinand-8, Vidic-7, Evra-7, Ronaldo-7, Scholes-7, Carrick-6, Nani-8, Saha-6, Rooney-7. (Giggs-6, Anderson-6, Tevez-7)

a 1-0 result may just be unjust, but we got our points. Kuzhack did well as well as our defence. The s*** is that we lost carrick for 6 bloody weeks!
