Liverpool 0 - 0 United

A point at Anfield is never a bad result but that was a woeful performance by United. If Mourinho set his team to frustrate Liverpool and not lose the game, then well done, he got exactly that. BUT I expected much much better. With our strike-force so powerful this season, coupled with Liverpool's disastrous defending, I really fancied our chances today. I am never confident before a game at Anfield but I was super confident this time. This was a repeat performance of the same fixture last year. The only difference is that this season's team is capable of winning the league and should not fear any other side.

The biggest positive today was keeping yet another clean sheet; our 7th this PL season. Our defenders did well but there were a few instances when they were a tad too sloppy. But when our defenders failed to clear the ball, Liverpool found a well prepared David De Gea. And boy he was super prepared. He managed to produce one heck of a stop today, probably one of his best saves given the close distance from where the ball was shot. He always does well against Liverpool.

Usually at Anfield we manage to create, at least, 3 decent chances. Today we got one and I think we should have scored it. Martial and Lukaku combined well with the latter shooting straight at Mignolet when placing inside the right post was a far better option. But that's football, I wouldn't be complaining had his fierce shot flown past Pool's keeper.

Matic was very disappointing today and so was Herrera. This game was a great example of why we haven't been doing as well as we should recently and I've always held this opinion. Herrera was our best player last season, ever-present in our side. That speaks heaps of the level of our play. He's not as good as people make him out to be. He is very good at pressing and pumping the crowds but that's just about it. I'd have Fellaini over Herrera any day of the week. There's a reason why Herrera wasn't getting a game when Paul Pogba and Fellaini were fit. The former is miles ahead of the Spaniard and the latter is better too. I think we missed Fellaini today. Oh, and Lukaku definitely misses Paul Pogba. Can't wait to have him back.

Anyway, we'll have to see more performances like this as this is what Jose does. If we are going to win the league, it will definitely not always be pretty. But sometimes I do feel that Mourinho is too cautious against the big teams.

At the time of writing, 20 minutes into the game, City are already winning 2-0. I must admit that they look like a better team.

Away to Benfica next, time to put next round qualification to bed. Come on United!
