Chelsea 1 - 1 United

DDG
Darmian Smalling Blind Borthwick-Jackson
Carrick Fellaini(Schneiderlin)
Lingard(Memphis) Mata(Herrera) Martial
Rooney

Ahhh so close yet so far. It was quite a good football match which we almost won through a stunning effort by Lingard. Unfortunately, the despicable Diego Costa managed to draw level in injury time. Let's be honest, a draw is a fair result. We were better than Chelsea until we scored the goal but then it was about the Londoners who dominated the final 30 minutes.

It was another positive performance. We attacked Chelsea and created some decent chances but found Courtois in fine form to keep Martial and Rooney at bay. At the other end of the pitch, DDG pulled off three stunning saves that had world-class written all over them. Without a shadow of a doubt, Courtois and David remain the best two keepers in the Premier League irrespective of their team's current league position. Well done to both.

Smalling gave the ball away at the start of the game but grew into the game. He was excellent during the second half. Blind dealt with Costa well. Darmian made his job look easy and Borthwick-Jackson is possibly the best crosser we have at the club. He managed to get another assist to his name and could have recorded another one had his first half low, fizzed cross been met by one of our strikers. It's a shame that he somewhat ruined his good performance when he was caught ball watching in the action that led to Chelsea's equaliser. Darmian, Smalling and Blind all stepped a few paces up the pitch to make Costa fall in an offside position but young Cameron failed to keep in line with the other defenders and kept Costa on side. He'll learn though. Is he the real deal? Well, he's impressed me. He looks really confident but he's got a tough job to displace Luke Shaw whenever he gets back from injury.

Fellaini won his battle with Fabregas as he had another good performance. I didn't really understand why he was taken off though. Schneiderlin's only contribution today was to give Chelsea a couple of needless free-kicks in very dangerous positions. Carrick was his composed self. Lingard scored a stunner and looked like a player who's confidence is sky high. A very good energetic display. Martial gave Ivanovic a few headaches while Rooney and Mata, especially the latter, were very good in our link up play. Memphis, who replaced Lingard, should have done better in an action close to the 90th minute but his pass was terrible when we were outnumbering Chelsea's defenders in their half. A good pass there would have won us the game. Very poor from Memphis.

I'm quite pleased with the performance but the result is not a good one in our quest to get into top four. We're six points away from City and 7 away from Spurs. We just cannot keep dropping points if we want to get into top four.
