Roma 0 - 2 United

VDS
Brown Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Park Scholes Carrick Anderson Rooney
Ronaldo

Although the starting line up and the positions did raise a few eyebrows, Ferguson was proven right once again as United cruised to a 2-0 victory away to Roma. United operated on the counter attack and this system did pay dividends as both of our goals were the finishing product of a counter attack. Ronaldo headed superbly to put our noses in front while Rooney got another morale boosting goal.

I am over the moon because of this result which in all fairness could have been even greater had Carrick scored from an ideal position. The maltese 'experts' on melita sports kept insisting that Roma were the better team. Roma did play well at certain times but they rarely troubled our defence which was exceptional. I bet the maltese 'expert' didn't realise that United had more shots on target and looked threatening whenever they attacked. I guess he is just a biased, Italian football supporter.

The team today was exceptional and everyone played a huge part in this success, although Anderson did delude a little. I bet he's too young to handle a typical Champions League match. VDS together with his defence were amazing. The only down was the Injury to Vidic. He seems to have damaged his ligaments which will undoubtly rue him out for most of the remaining matches. The 2nd leg will be held next week at OT. I expect nothing but a win and keep marching on towards the Semi Final. Maybe this year we could get a step further than last year. I hope so.

VDS-8, Brown-7, Ferdinand-8, Vidic-7, Evra-7, Ronaldo-7, Scholes-7, Carrick-7, Anderson-5, Park-7, Rooney-7. ( O'Shea-7, Hargreaves-6, Tevez-6)
