Aalborg 0 - 3 United

Van der Sar;
Rafael (Brown 66), Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra;
Ronaldo, Scholes (Giggs 16), O'Shea, Nani;
Rooney (Tevez 59), Berbatov

After watching the Celtic game I thought Aalborg were going to provide a bigger threat to United than they actually did, don't get me wrong United's performance today showed that the team is finally gelling and reaching it's full potential, but Aalborg didn't really trouble us. United's goals came from Rooney and a double from Berbatov with the second being a sublime volley.

The win may have come at a cost though, United had Scholes, Rooney and the impressive Rafael replaced because of injury. I'm waiting anxiously to learn the extent of their injuries.

All in all we played good football, Rooney continued his scoring streak and Berbatov finally got his first goals of his United career. I hope many are to follow. Nani, an excellent talent, should train harder to perfect his finishes as well as his crosses. I still thing the young Portugese has a lot of room for development. United could have ended the game in the first half and in the second half Tevez and Nani should have increased the margin, but I'll take the 3 nil scoreline.

Well done to the reds, we're finally reaching our potential.

United 2 - 0 Bolton

Van der Sar;
Neville, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra;
Ronaldo (Nani 80), Fletcher, Anderson (Scholes 71), Park;
Tevez (Rooney 71), Berbatov

Finally we're back to winning ways thanks to a good performance by the United players and 2 goals by Ronaldo and Rooney. Ronaldo scored from a penalty, which in my opinion, wasn't a penalty at all but I guess lady luck smiled at us for the first time this season. Rooney scored a gem of a goal and I doubt we'll get to see a better finish than that at Old Trafford this season. I'm glad he stopped his goal draught for United.

Bolton never really troubled United except for one moment when Muamba should have scored from an ideal position. The match stats are a good indication of what the match was about; United attacking with no luck. It's been a while since United had 20 odd shots on target, 10 of them from Ronaldo. He had a good game today although most of his tricks didn't work but at the end of the day he made a penalty, scored it and made an assist. That's what we expect from him. Both Tevez and Berbatov had a quiet match although the latter showed some glimpses of quality during the second half. The substitutes Rooney and Scholes had a great impact on the match, the former scored a great goal while Scholes sought openings with breathtaking long balls and passes.
Our next match is vs Aalbord in the Champions league. A win is imperative if we want to defend our title of European Champions.

Until next time. Utdtillidie

United 3 - 1 M'Boro

Rafael, Brown, Vidic, O’Shea;
Nani, Anderson, Possebon (Gibson 72);
Giggs(Manucho 84), Ronaldo (Tevez 61), Welbeck.

The starting line up did not surprise me at all. I knew Fergie wanted to give Ronaldo another run out to become more match fit. Vidic needed a match after missing the last game vs Chelsea, the same goes with Giggs and Brown while Nani is still not match fit, so I'm glad Fergie fielded a decent team that blended youth with experience. Once again I was heavily impressed with Rafael. He's fast, he could defend, he could attack, impressive. The goals came from Nani, Giggs & Ronaldo. Ronaldo's headed goal reminded me of what we could expect from him now that he's back, while Giggsy's chip was quite classy. Nani unleashed his speed to score a decent goal late on.
I must admit though that M'Boro did contribute to their own demise with two defensive errors that lead to Nani and Giggs's goals. It could have ended with extra time or even penalties had Boro's defenders been more focused.

Manucho, finally, played in a United shirt. He only played for 15 minutes so I can't really judge him, but he looks to be a decent passer of the ball. The only down from this match was Possebon's injury which will defenitely rule him out of action for several weeks. Luckily he did not break his leg.

Next match vs Bolton, heavily dubbed as the game that will turn our season upside down after a dismal start. Time will tell.

Chelsea 1 - 1 United

VDS (Kuz)
Neville Rio Evans Evra
Hargreaves Scholes(Ronaldo) Fletcher Park(O'Shea)
Rooney Berbatov

I believe in United but to be honest I didn't expect anything more than a loss at Stamford Bridge, so this 1-1 result as well as the performance by the lads has pleased me. Much has been said about Chelsea but we showed that we can play like them and at times better than them in their own backyard. United's goal came from an unlikely source, Park.

If it hadn't been for a great save from Cech after a shot by Ferdinand and an inacurate shot by Rooney with a 'nearly open' goal at his mercy, United would have passed the Chelsea test with flying colours. Then again if it hadn't been for a 'not-so-sharp' Anelka and two bloopers by Cole, United could have been humilated at Stamford Bridge.

I didn't really see why Tevez didn't play a part in this match, although VDS's forced substitution may be the reason. But I would have prefered if Tevez replaced Park instead of O'Shea. And I must admit, Ronaldo disgusted me today. I hope he realises that we don't want to see the individual Ronaldo, we just want to see Ronaldo playing for Man Utd and working as a team.

Anyway a point at Stamford Bridge and now we lay somewhere in the bottom half of the table with 5 points. I believe the good times are ahead, we already faced 2 of the best 3 teams in the PL so the upcoming games should be easier? That's a big questionmark, you never get an easy team in the PL. Just look at Hull!
Next match is vs M'Boro for the Carling Cup. I think Fergie should play a strong team, he shouldn't mess with a Boro side which is defenitely going all out to progress in this competition, which is maybe their(Boro's) only hope of some silverware this season.

United 0 - 0 Villareal

Neville Rio Evans Evra
Park(Ronaldo) Fletcher Hargreaves(Anderson) Nani
Rooney Tevez(Giggs)
This was another negative result although the lads put in a fine performance. Villareal were nonexistent during the first half and United failed to convert several decent chances. Obviously, the likes of Scholes and Carrick were missed but Hargreaves and Fletcher both did a good job in midfield.
United could have had 2 penalties in the first half but the German ref's mind must have been in kookoo land. The Spaniards went to Old Trafford to defend but in the first period of the second half they were more adventurous and that's when they hit the post. United were later denied by the post too, denying Evans a dream Champions League debut.
All in all I'm pretty disappointed, the only pluses from this match are the return of Park and Ronaldo. Next match is vs Chelsea, will be tough but I still believe in my heroes.

Liverpool 2 -1 United

Brown Rio Vida Evra
Anderson Scholes Carrick
Rooney Berbatov Tevez

"Ok, we will lose this match" That's what I murmered to myself when we scored after 3 minutes. United, like Berbatov, started brightly but faded throughout the first half. In fact during the second half I kept asking myself, 'Did SAF replace Berba?' He was completely out of the match! But it was his first game with United and I believe he didn't train an awful lot with his new team mates so let's just give the man a chance, afterall he did supply Tevez with a fine assist after 3 minutes.

United committed TWO many mistakes. No, I don't have a spelling mistake. Out of all mistakes United committed, two of them cost us the game. When VDS punched the ball against Brown, with the latter committing an own goal and the mistake by Giggs when he tried to shield the ball into a goal kick when he could have just cleared it into a corner.

September the 13th was surely an awful day for United. Carrick got injured, Nemanja sent off and the worst of all, losing against the Scouse for the first time in 4 years. Let them celebrate but it's too early to be opening champagne bottles, United had gathered 2 points last year after 3 matches and went on to win the league. This year we managed to get 4 points, I'll take last year's success any time, even if we have to lose against Liverpool at anfield!
Final Verdict, United just weren't good enough after the 20 minute mark. Liverpool deserve this win. Their second most glorious moment in the last 17 years, just behind winning the Champions League.

Berbatov IN, Saha & Campbell OUT...

So finally United have signed Dimitar Berbatov for £31m. His transfer saga lasted for the whole 3 months of the Summer and because of him and of course Ronaldo I have wasted a lot of time checking every football website every morning to see if Berba joined United or if Ronaldo left United. Luckily Ronaldo stayed with United and Berba has just joined. Berba will now join the likes of Tevz, Rooney & Ronaldo to form what appears to be a deadly attacking front. Time will tell. Welcome Berbatov!

On the other hand Frazier Campell has been loaned out to Tottenham as part of the deal that brought Berba to Old Trafford. A year at White Hart Lane will surely be of great benefit to Campbell who should rejoin United after this season ends.

Meanwhile Saha has been sold to Everton for an undisclosed fee. This brought to an end a 4 and a half year Man Utd career for the Frenchman. The 30-year-old netted 42 goals in 124 appearances. Injuries dominated during these 4 and a half years and in the last 2 seasons he barely played for United let alone score a handful of goals. Which is what a striker is meant to do! Anyway goodluck to Saha...
