United 3 - 0 West Ham

O'Shea Evans(Smalling) Vidic Evra
Nani Fletcher Scholes(Carrick) Giggs
Rooney Berbatov(Owen)

United breezed past the Hammers at Old Trafford. Our players played well but there is still room for improvement. Evans and O'Shea looked weak once again and they were lucky Vidic was always present to spare their blushes. The serbian was absolutely terrific, winning every header and timing every tackle to perfection. At the front, both strikers got themselves on the scoresheet. Rooney ended his goal drought with a well taken penalty and Berbatov scored a delightful volley to cap a very good performance.

Nani scored a good goal and managed to set another. He should have scored late on in the first half but his chip sailed over the bar due to a heavy touch. However, his passing and movements were really good. Scholes had another excellent game. His passing was immaculate. He's a genius on the ball and I honestly don't think that there is a better passer of the ball in the Premier League. Vidic, Berbatov and Scholes were, in my opinion, the men of the match.

It's time for the international break and then United will head to Goodison Park to face Everton. We were washed aside last year at that ground so I guess it's time for revenge! Come on UNITED!

Fulham 2 - 2 United

O'Shea Evans Vidic Evra
Valencia(Nani) Fletcher Scholes Park(Giggs)
Chicharito(Owen) Berbatov
United started the game well but failed to capitalise when Fulham looked vulnerable and were there for the taking. Scholes scored a cracker and I thought that, finally, we were going to beat the Craven Cottage jinx. But United played just for 30 minutes, then it was all about Fulham. Our defenders were horrendous at times. All four of them. Evans and Vidic never looked confident, O'Shea gave the ball away cheaply and Evra looked tired. An own goal by Hangalaand made the match look like it was going our way. Minutes later United were, justly, awarded a penalty but Nani took it quite poorly and the goalie saved it. Then, at the death, Fulham managed to equalise and made United drop the first points of the season.

The season is too young to start worrying but we could have easily won the 3 points today. Fulham were better than us at times but still I believe we should have won this game easily. We should have scored more goals during the first 30 minutes. Anyhow Fergie should do something about our defence because it looked shaky vs Newcastle and it looked awful today. Roll on next weekend.

United 3 - 0 Newcastle

O'Shea Evans Vidic Evra(Rafael)
Valencia Fletcher Scholes Nani(Giggs)
Rooney(Chicharito) Berbatov

It was a joy to watch United pass the ball around so comfortably, although, I must admit, that at times, especially during the first half, we gave away the ball cheaply. But the ease at which our players managed to circulate the ball around the field was simply brilliant at times. Scholes was his usual self, he showed us that he still can't tackle but then showed the United faithful that his passing skills are still there. The precision at which he delivers the ball must make any player, even passing masters Iniesta and Xavi, jealous. Unfortunately he's on the wrong side of the 30's :(

Berbatov was on target again and I'm pretty pleased about that. He had another good game and I guess this is the season during which we'll be able to enjoy the 30million pounds Fergie spent on him. Fletcher scored another and a beautiful volley from Giggsy completed the icing on the cake. Scholes provided the assist for the 1st and 3rd goals.

Overall I'm quite happy although there are some things that made me worry. 1st point is that Rooney does not look match fit. His passing is OK but his finishing is terrible at the moment. I expect him to regain fitness by the end of this month. He's a player who's capable of making or breaking our season. Another negative from this match is O'Shea at right-back. He didn't look comfortable at all and I don't think Fergie should trust him there! Next match is away to Fulham. It will definitely be a tough match but I hope United do what they failed to do during the past couple of seasons and beat the cottagers.

Chelsea 1 - 3 United

Van der Sar
O'Shea J Evans Vidic Fabio(Smalling)
Valencia Carrick(Fletcher) Scholes(Giggs) Park(Nani)
Rooney(Chicharito) Owen(Berbatov)
Finally the new season has kicked off. United played brilliantly today with Scholes playing some excellent football and delivering exquisite balls onto our players. He was the best player on the field and the England manager must have rued the 'no' Scholes said when he asked for the ginger's services prior to the World Cup. But the World Cup is over, thankfully, and the eye pleasing United are back and back with a bang.

Valencia scored the goal of the game. A visionary pass from Scholes set up Rooney who crossed for Valencia to convert. My limited English isn't enough to describe the goal so if you didn't see it, get on Youtube now! Then the second goal is another must watch for different reasons. Valencia hit a cross and Chicharito kicked the ball into his own face and into the back of the net. It was quite comical but all goals count and he scored on his proper Man Utd debut. Meanwhile the final goal was another goal that had class written all over it. Nani and Berbatov linked up well and the latter lobbed the ball over the rushing Hilario and into the back of the net.

Overall it was a deserved victory against a team that surely has problems and I think, a
nd hope, that Chelsea will have a difficult season. Their defence looks a tad slow aaaand, well, I'm not complaining! It was a real joy to watch this game although my heart had it's first test of the season when United looked like they were going to throw away a 2 goal advantage. The players who, in my opinion, have a lot of room for improvement are Fabio and Smalling. Fabio was exposed a couple of times and Smalling doesn't know how to pass the ball. He's like the Maltese national team defenders. Everytime he gets the ball he shoots it upfield without any real target. Should sort that out!

Next game is vs Newcastle! Prediction? 3-0.
Well done lads!

Ireland XI 1 - 7 United

Kuszczak (Amos 64);
Evans, Smalling, Vidic, O'Shea;
Valencia, Carrick (Fletcher 37), Gibson, Park (Nani 64);
Rooney (Hernandez 45), Owen (Berbatov 45)

United ran riot in Dublin yesterday evening. The goals were scored by Park(x2), Chicharito, Nani(pen), Evans, Owen and Valencia. Owen's, Chicharito's and Valencia's goals were well taken. It was a joy to see Owen get back on the scoresheet after a long absence due to an injury which ruled him out for the final third of last season.

Chicharito scored a goal and created another. This lad could be the bargain of the season. He wasn't that expensive and he seems to be a good striker. Fergie compared him to Solskjaer last week. If he does at least half of what the Norwegian did for us, then I would be a happy man. Personality-wise he seems to be similar to Ole but let's just hope he delivers and meets our sky high expectations.

Next Sunday the big headache that lasts over 9 months starts again. The new seasons kicks off with the season curtain raiser vs Chelsea. Chelsea didn't really invest in their squad this year, but then again, nor did we. I do believe that the future looks bright for United. We have a lot of young talent, the question is, are our youngsters ready to mount a serious title challenge this season? I believe, that with the mixture of youth and experience that we have, we are more than capable of getting back the Premiership crown back where it belongs i.e Old Trafford. It will surely be a tough season though. Liverpool employed a decent manager, Arsenal's youngsters have the experience of one more season in the bag, Chelsea are always going to be tough and Tottenham are an unpredictable football team. Meanwhile, Man City have been spending silly money on new players. The latest rumour is that they are ready to spend 64Million on Balotelli. Come on! They will definitely be a tough team to beat, they have a squad full of stars but heck, they will never get the class that oozes out of Manchester United. COME ON UNITED!

3 Years On
On another note this blog starts its 3rd year today. I love blogging about United and, as long as my love for United does not come to an unexpected halt, I will keep on blogging.
