Fulham 3 - 0 United

Fletcher Carrick DeLaet(Rafael) Evra
Valencia Gibson(Berbatov) Scholes Anderson
Owen(Welbeck) Rooney

Fulham, deservedly, battered United today. Their play was sometimes jaw dropping while United today were completely useless. We have a long long injury list, true, but that is not a good excuse for today's performance. Our squad is(supposedly) made up of professional players who are more than able of putting in a decent performance. Today's performance was anything but decent.

I expected more from the experienced players. Owen was anonymous, Rooney wasn't his usual self, again, Scholes was horrible, Valencia never really got going and Evra struggled to get into the game. At the back I can't really blame our back four. Carrick is not a defender while DeLaet was OK. Losing 3-0 at Craven Cottage is embarrassing. Fulham have now humbled United for the second year running and have put a serious dent on our title challenge. No matter how many Chelsea players will be away at the African Cup of nations, they will, I think, run away with the league. I may sound like I have given up and to be fair with you, I think I have. The performances vs Aston Villa, Wolves and today vs Fulham have been dreadful.

Hopefully with the return of some of the injured players we will get better, well, our situation cannot really get any worse. I'll still give my full backing to our players but hey these performances can only fuel my anger. It hurts to see United play like that! Our players fully deserve the forthcoming hairdryer treatment Fergie is likely to subject them to. Off to complete my school assignment...

United 3 - 0 Wolves

DeLaet Carrick Vidic(Fletcher) Evra
Valencia Scholes Gibson Obertan(Welbeck)
Rooney (Owen) Berbatov

United won easily against a depleted Wolves side today. A penalty converted by an out-of-form Rooney, a powerful header by Vidic and a lovely volley by Valencia gave United the much needed three points. We are now joint leaders of the Premier League, however, the other team sharing top spot, Chelsea, have a game in hand.

United, without playing particularly well, managed to do enough to win this match. I was impressed by DeLaet who had a good game while Welbeck's eye for goal is encouraging. Kuschcak did well when asked to. He's a great goalie and I'm glad Fergie has finally realised this. Berbatov, who stated that he wants to keep playing with beauty and grace, managed to set up Valencia for the 3rd goal with a stunning flick. The guy's ability and technique is unquestionable but still, he isn't a prolific scorer! Therefore I still want Fergie to splash the cash on a striker come January.

A good game and a good win. Now we hit the road that takes us to Fulham. I think it will be a tough match. Fulham are more than capable of causing an upset. It's never easy playing at Craven Cottage so I guess United will get out of London with a narrow win. I'll go for 1-0 scoreline. I hope last year's dreadful performance isn't repeated.

United 0 - 1 Aston Villa

Fletcher Brown Vidic Evra
Valencia Anderson(Gibson) Carrick Giggs(Owen)
Park(Berbatov) Rooney
Today United could have pulled level with Chelsea at the top of the table but we missed this chance after a sluggish performance. Rooney and Giggs amongst others had an off day. Brown was at fault for Villa's only goal while Evra and Valencia both worked hard. Our pole in goal wasn't to blame for the goal conceded. He denied Villa their second with a fine stop midway through the first half.

United were a tad unlucky at times. Rooney hit the bar from close range and Friedel denied Berbatov a certain goal with a fine save late in the game. Still, United should have won this match but we didn't do enough, we were too wasteful in front of goal. Where the heck was Macheda when we needed him eh???

Thanks to Everton's breathtaking performance at Chelsea we are still 3 points adrift of the Londoners. But losing 4 goals after 16 games is not good at all. I think an eventual league champion affords 5 losses and 5 draws.

Anyway our next match is vs Wolves. They have beaten Tottenham today so I hope there aren't anymore upsets in store for us United fans.

Wolfsburg 1 - 3 United

Park Fletcher Carrick Evra
Nani(Valencia) Gibson Scholes Anderson Welbeck(Obertan)

With 3 midfielders playing in defence, United still managed to beat the German champions in their own backyard. An amazing hat-trick by Owen did the trick and ensured that United, who admittedly rode their luck at times, end up the group stage as group winners.

From the little I've seen it seems that, apart from Owen, Obertan, Carrick, Evra & Fletcher all had a good match. On the other hand Micheal's hat-trick will do his confidence no harm. He must be brimming with confidence after that display. Bring on Villa!

WestHam 0 - 4 United a

Fletch Neville(Carrick) Brown Evra
Valencia Scholes Gibson(Berbatov) Giggs
An excellent second half performance earned United another 3 points! A beauty by Scholes put United in front just before the interval. I thought the second half was going to be more difficult but United were absolutely amazing at times and West Ham seemed to have thrown in the towel and that's when United ran riot. Gibson scored another scorcher while Valencia and Rooney scored in quick succession.

Scholes was massive today, he put in an excellent midfield performance and I agree with Setanta's commentators who voted for Scholes as their man of the match. Kuzschak had another good game in goal, he wasn't troubled much, but when tested he was up to the task. Given the fact that our defence consisted of our 2nd choice keeper, two midfielders, just one proper centre back and a left back, I think our makeshift defence did exceptionally well today.

However I'm quite worried about our injured defenders. Rio is still out while Vidic, Neville, Evans and O'Shea all followed in Rio's path. Brown was also withdrawn from the field late on today. If these problems persist, I guess Fergie will have to buy a defender in January.

We are slowly reaching top form. United have scored 11 goals in the last 3 games, increasing the goal difference by 10. I hope this form continues, c'mon United! Now, let's hope City do us a favour...

United 2 - 0 Tottenham

Neville Brown Vidic DeLaet
Obertan(Carrick) Gibson Anderson(Tosic) Park
Welbeck Berbatov(Macheda)
United are through to the Carling Cup semi finals thanks to two spectacular goals by Gibson. Yep, the same guy most reporters had written off after last week's display vs Besiktas. Well done Gibbo lad!

In my opinion the best players on the pitch were Gibson, Anderson and Vidic. Anderson and Vidic were both immense today. Anderson ran his socks off while Vidic marshalled our back four expertly. Park played the whole match and that's a big big positive since we'll need his energy as the season grows older and Giggsy's legs start to tire. De Laet also did well at right back but IMO Evra is miles ahead of him.

Our team today featured 7 players who aren't considered as first team players and we still managed to win against a Tottenham side full of first teamers. This speaks heaps of our youths, and whoever doubted our youngsters last week probably felt like a complete jackass while watching this game. Nothing spectacular, just a tidy performance, a good result and another semi final to look forward to. Well done lads!
