That was a very good performance by our players but yet again, in yet another home game, we failed to win. How we managed to drop 2 points against Stoke, Burnley and now Arsenal is beyond me. All three teams came to Old Trafford with no intention of winning and yet, despite our good performance in all our three games, we failed to get more than one point. That's a total of six points lost, we would've been third and in with a shout of winning the league had we been a bit more lucky.
Lady luck doesn't want to smile at us at the moment nor do the referees. I don't think I've experienced so many wrong decisions going against United like this year. We should have had a penalty today but the ref thought otherwise. There were a few other bad decisions that really get you frustrated.
With the exception of Rashford and to a certain extent Martial, I thought that there wasn't a player out there who had a bad game. The back four absolutely didn't give Arsenal a sniff of the ball. Valencia was terrific. Jones and Rojo were surprisingly solid. Carrick lay deep infront of our centre backs and passed the ball with ease while Herrera was his usual frantic self. I thought Herrera had a very good game. Pogba showed flashes of class as he's finally looking like he's getting used to the Premier League. His good performance today was probably helped by the presence of Carrick. Mata also had a very good game and scored a well worked goal.
Now I've been saying that Mourinho should give Rashford/Martial a chance to shine and drop Ibrahimovic. Both have bags of pace when compared to Ibra but none took their chance to impress today and Mourinho has no other choice but to start Zlatan again in our next game. Rashford was bullied off the ball by Arsenal's defenders and then failed to defend against Chamberlain in the action that led to the equaliser. As for Martial, he wasn't as bad as Rashford but he's had a dreadful season so far. Rooney probably did more in 20 minutes than Marcus.
I feel gutted but at the same time pleased with our performance. You do get some encouragement when you see results against the likes of Stoke, Burnley and today. You just know that next time around, that little bit something special will get us the results needed. That something special might come next season though, till then we must make sure that we get into the top four. By the end of the day we can be 10 points off the top and that would be our title chances over.
