We should be winning these home games. Yes, West Ham have done well against the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and City away from home but they were absolutely annihilated by Tottenham a couple weeks ago so we rally should be doing better against these teams. Tottenham and City slipped today but we failed to take advantage and now we lying dangerously close to the teams in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th place. If we keep dropping points we'll be getting out of the top four soon.
We had a few chances during the second half but we were still in the game only because West Ham had two headers hit the post and failed to score twice when one-on-one with our goalie. Martial missed a very good chance and so did Lingard but if football was a fair game, West Ham would've won today's match by two goals.
Our first half performance was poor. We did perform better during the second half and had quite a few attempts but most of them weren't on target. The only shot on target I can remember is Fellaini's effort from the goal mouth....should have done better there. I can't say there were any players who played really badly; it's just that we seem to have developed a very negative mentality. LVG certainly doesn't believe that attack is the best form of defence. We are a very slow team when going forward and that's mainly because we heavily depend on Mata to build attacks and he's quite slow. After Memphis' came on for Schweinsteiger, we attacked West Ham with pace and they looked like they were in all sorts of trouble. It's a shame we cannot play with that tempo all game long but anyway.
I thought Fellaini was one of our best players. He was probably more effective than Rooney has been during the past few games. Memphis had a positive impact when he came on. I don't know why he doesn't play.
All in all I'm disappointed with out team. I am also very disappointed with the fans. You just don't boo your team while playing. Criticize the manager as much as you like but stuff the boos up your ass. Big game on Tuesday. Let's see what happens.
