I was a bit anxious before today's game. Playing at the Brittania is not an easy task. Arsenal, Liverpool, Everton and City have all dropped points at Stoke's football ground this year, so I feared the worst. Thankfully, our boys had their best game post that Real Madrid game. I really like the idea of playing Wayne Rooney in the middle. He was, in my opinion, the man of the match.
We took the lead early in the game when our player of the season, Michael Carrick, poked the ball into the far corner. That was our 100th goal of the season! The three points were then sealed when RVP won a penalty and our dutchman ended his goal drought by scoring from the spot. You can tell by his goal celebration that his goal today was really important.
Fergie got his team selection spot on. Carrick and Roo combined really well in midfield while Jones at right back was quite impressive. Stoke only had one decent chance all game long, our defenders were excellent. We needed the strength of our most robust players. All our strong players were on the pitch today.
We only need 7 more points. West Ham next. After the dismay of last Monday, I feel confident again.
