United 2 - 0 WBA

DDG
Young(Jones) Smalling Blind Rojo(Borthwick Jackson)
Carrick Schweinsteiger
Mata Rooney(Herrera) Lingard
Martial
Dream come true. Lingard scores his first Man Utd goal.
Three more points in the bag and yet another clean sheet. It's been 9 hours and 15 minutes since our defence last conceded a goal. The last goal we conceded was from a rebound after our goalie had saved a penalty. LVG has got his defensive tactics spot on. However, we weren't really spectacular when going forward. Having said that, I don't mind it if we get the points needed.

It's hard playing spectacular football when your opponent is defending with 8 players. Like most teams come to do at Old Trafford nowadays, WBA came to win a point. It's really hard to penetrate the ball through two rows of defenders. Anyway, it was an efficient performance by most of our boys. Mata and Young did let me a bit down today but their team mates had a decent game.

DDG could have been sipping a cocktail on a recliner; he absolutely had nothing to do. The only time WBA were dangerous was when their unmarked striker sent a free-header to row z. Should have scored there but I ain't complaining. I thought Smalling, Blind and Rojo did really well today. Rojo was replaced by an 18 year old Mancunian. It's great to see LVG not afraid to give youngsters a chance. Lingard is currently keeping the much hyped Memphis out of the side so he does believe in the academy's products.

Game over. Mata scores a penalty to put our minds at ease.
Carrick, again, did well but he was a bit wasteful on occasions. Schweinsteiger was my man of the match. I thought he did brilliantly today. Lingard was another positive out of this game. He followed his impressive Champions League performance last Tuesday with another good game. He was unafraid to run at WBA's defenders and scored a wonderful curler seven minutes into the second half. To be honest, I thought we'd do much better after we had scored. WBA had to attack now and that, I thought, would have left them exposed. That's what annoyed me today. We didn't really go for the kill and only made sure of the three points on the stroke of time when Martial was fouled in the penalty area and the ref gave us a penalty which was converted by Mata.

Rooney worked his socks off and Martial was a handful. Hopefully there'll be better cohesion between the two in the coming games. We need our strikers to be on top of their game now that we're slowly going into the Christmas period.

Great performance? No, but it was efficient and we got the three points and that's what matters at the end of the day. We're up there competing with the current best teams in England and, for a team that's supposedly playing dreadful football, that ain't too bad. International break now; it's actually good to go into an international break with a win, we've failed to do so twice this season. Come on United!
