WBA 0 - 3 United

DDG
Rafael(Vidic) Smalling Jones Evra
Mata Carrick Fellaini Januzaj(Kagawa)
Rooney RVP(Welbeck)

Another pleasing away game in the Premier League. We have managed to win 27 points on our travels, that's actually better than any other PL team bar Tottenham. If only our home form was better!

Anyway, I thought it was a solid performance from our boys. Fellaini looks like he's finally gelling in the team while Mata looked comfortable playing behind Roo and RVP. The latter managed an assist but had a frustrating afternoon while Roo clicked into gear as soon as he headed Rafa's cross into the net. He wasn't at his best before that. I thought our defence did ever so well to help David keep a clean sheet. Jones scored his third goal of the season and put in some excellent tackles at the back, Smalling showed that he's a decent central defender while Evra didn't do much wrong. Right back Rafael was the player who impressed me the most today. He looked so enthusiastic! Apart from the numerous perfectly timed challenges he made, he also provided an assist for Rooney's goal and was very unlucky not to score one himself. Man of the match.

I think this is the formation that best fits Moyes' ideology as well as our team's capabilities. We cannot keep trying to play on the wing if we don't have wingers with enough quality. Valencia and Young are decent players but they're definitely no world beaters. Anyway, I don't want to get carried away. We were very good vs. Crystal Palace a fortnight ago and then succumbed to a humiliating defeat at the hands of the 'mighty' Olimpiakos a few days later. You just don't know what to expect from this current side. However, I did see more improvements today...enough improvements to make my mind feel more at ease about the future of this great club. A couple of great signings during the Summer and we'll be good for next season.

Our player's morale must have increased a bit after today's performance. I know mine has! And it's just in time for our game against the scousers. That's a real test there. I hate to admit it but they're the real deal this year. They might not be champions material just yet but they're playing some splendid football so I'm eager to see how our side will player against them. It does feel strange seeing Liverpool challenge for the title while we lie in an Europa League place, the roles seem to have reversed. While I have given up on 4th spot, a win against them will put a dent on their title bid and will serve as a huge morale boost for our players. So come on United!

p.s. Well done Welbeck, you took your goal brilliantly! Also, who said Mata doesn't defend? If it wasn't for his brilliant defensive work, WBA would have equalised when we were leading by a goal. Well played.
