United 1 - 0 Barcelona

VDS
Hargreaves Rio Brown Evra
Nani Scholes Carrick Park
Ronaldo Tevez

We are going to MOSCOW! Well I'm not, but United surely are :D This was a great match were United showed great tactical discipline and defended extremely well. The desicive moment came after 14 minutes when Paul Scholes scored a thunderbolt. A goal that no goalkeeper in the world would have saved.

I'm really delighted that after 9 years of promises and heartbreaks we are going to the European final again. It will be an all english final, I just wish it would be against Liverpool. The prospect of beating the Scouse in a European final is mouth watering. Not that I wouldn't enjoy watching United beat Chelsea.

All the players did well, but I must single out Tevez. The energy he gives for United's cause is simply phenomenal. He ran his socks off. Ji Sung Park was another who impressed me. I'm quite sceptical about Park but yesterday he showed why Fergie beleives in him. Great performance and great distribution in his crosses, he could have crowned his performance with a goal. Meanwhile in the defence Rio Ferdinand and Wes Brown had one heck of a game. They were rock solid, simply impermeable. Well done lads :D

Next match @ home vs WestHam. Come On United lets bag the League!

Chelsea 2 - 1 United

VDS
Brown Rio Vidic Silvestre
Nani Fletcher Carrick Anderson Giggs
Rooney

Another game in which United preferred to play defensively until conceding a goal. The first half performance by United was poor, very poor. They lacked creativity and the only team that looked like scoring was Chelsea. And indeed that is what they did. The reaction from United in the second half was acceptable. United tried to score the leveller and did that through Wayne Rooney. Although he was in some distress he still managed to sprint towards the Chelsea goal and score what could have been a very important goal. That's why I like Rooney, he gives his all to the team, although he was injured. The game looked destined for a 1-1 result but Carrick handled the ball in the penalty area, according to the ref, and from the penalty Chelsea scored the winning goal.

United could have scored twice but had the efforts cleared off the line by Cole and Shevchenko repectively. The latter's clearance must be his highlight of his career in a Chelsea shirt. Anyway we were unlucky not to get something out of this game.

I was quite surprised when I saw the starting XI. These weren't the best XI Fergie could have picked. I don't know why he did not play Tevez and Ronaldo. They're young, I don't think they would mind playing 2 games in a week. Silvestre who started instead of Evra had a great game and Fletcher performed well too. The biggest disappointment was Nani who never really got going.

Alex Ferguson's tactics might cost us the league. We could have secured the league at Stamford Bridge but failed to do so. Now United must win their remaining matches against Wigan and West Ham. Although they might be two of the lesser teams, I'm not confident United could win both of the matches. Wigan have drawn against Chelsea and Arsenal and it's been almost 2 years since we last won against West Ham. Anyway I just hope we get the six points and Fergie quits messing around with the tactics and plays the best XI from the first minute.

Next match vs Barca at OT. We could win, only if Fergie lets United play the United Way.

Come On United!!!!!

Barcelona 0 - 0 United

VDS
Hargreaves Rio Brown Evra
Ronaldo Carrick Scholes Park

I'm stuck between two minds. Should I be happy because United got out of the frightening Nou Camp without losing? Or should I be disappointed because United didn't score a priceless away goal? United had a great chance of scoring that vital away goal but Ronaldo missed the penalty. Like I said last Saturday, he is human afterall!

0-0 is a dangerous result. If the 2nd leg ends in a draw with both sides scoring, something both sides are well capable of doing, United would get eliminated. Such an elimination would be even more heart breaking given the fact that United would be out of the tournament without losing a single game. Which is a bit unfair, but that's football.

Anyway I expected a good game with attacking football but I got the opposite. A boring match were United kept defending and defending without really trying to test the Barca defence. A match between 2 sides from the Gozitan football league would have been even more entertaining than this match. Rooney was played as a defensive midfielder while Ronaldo was played as a centre forward. The result? A Crap performance from both players. Ferdinand, Brown and Evra had a great game and did well to deal with the breath taking Messi.

I hope Fergie plays the players in their natural position next Tuesday and yes I believe that United are more than capable of beating Barca. Meanwhile our next match could be a title decider. If United win vs Chelsea we would be Champions of England for the 2nd time in a row... I expect this side to the deliver, the whole world is expecting.

Blackburn 1 - 1 United

Kuschzack
Brown Rio Vida Evra
Ronaldo Scholes Carrick Giggs

This was a game were United played against a good Blackburn team plus Rob Styles. The ref could have given United 3 penalties but failed to do so and to add insult to injury, Brad Friedel had one heck of a game. I bet there were demons between the Blackburn posts, the ball simply could not go in just until Tevez headed home.

The first half performance was quite poor, but United upped the tempo in the last 20 minutes of the match when we literally took over the Blackburn half. Ronaldo hit the post, Rooney had a good attempt saved, a Blackburn player handed the ball in the penalty area, another fouled Ronaldo in the penalty area and once the ball which seemed destined to the back of the net stopped on the GOAL LINE! It was simply unbelievable and I thought our title bid was going down the drain. To be honest if it wasn’t for Tevez’s goal, our title bid would have been seriously tattered. Anyway a 1-1 draw and the title is all ours to lose. Who knows, maybe Tevez just won us the title.

No one played well until the 70th minute but there was a player who really tested my patience. I’m referring to Ryan Giggs. OK, he has been a great servant to our club but with all due respect, I believe his time is up. United played better with Nani, and Ferguson should realise that he should pick up the starting 11 with his head rather than his heart. Scholes, another old boy, didn’t have the best of games but his flicked header set up Tevez to score the goal. Ronaldo seemed to be quiet, too quiet for his standard. He is human after all! Rooney seems to have hurt his hip so he is liable to miss our next match. A positive out of this match is that Vidic is back ahead of the Barca contest.

Our next match is away to Barcelona. A clash between two European giants, it’s time to show why we are referred to as a European giant. I hope we contain Barca and even get that vital away goal.
One last point to ponder, I still believe United will win the league, the thing is, they may have already killed me when they get their hands on the EPL trophy. I can't believe I never had a heart attack because of United. God forbid.

Come on United!

United 2 - 1 Arsenal

VDS
Brown Rio Pique Evra
Ronaldo Carrick Hargreaves Scholes Park
Rooney
This was a hard earned win against an Arsenal side willing to salvage something from this season. To be fair to the Arsenal fans, it's a little bit unfair for Wengers team to come out of Old Trafford empty handed, but I guess that's the beauty of football. After this match I can certainly see the beautiful side of it.

Arsenal attacked relentlessly while United operated on the counter attack. Uniteds attacking threat looked more threatening than that of Arsenal and I guess that was the main difference between the two teams today. Had Arsenal been more focused and lethal, they could have scored on several occasions.

Apart from the scrappy goal Arsenal scored, a goal which VDS should have dealt with easily, the only threatening shots on VDS's goal were made by Rio and Brown. They should be grateful VDS was on his toes and spared their blushes. Meanwhile United scored a penalty by Ronaldo and a superb freekick by Hargreaves. Ronaldo should make way for our new freekick king. Hargreaves.

It wasn't the best of performances by United but I guess that's the hallmark of champions. You win games without playing well. The two subs Tevez and Anderson ignited United's attacking flair and the match was set alight once they got on the pitch. IMO Scholes had a poor match today, he gave away the ball quite often while Ronaldo wasn't at his best either.

Anyway our next match is vs Blackburn away from home. Will be difficult, very difficult, but I hope United get out of the Stadium with 3 points. If this happens it would be one huge step towards defending our title.

United 1 - 0 Roma

VDS

I knew United were going to qualify since it was going to be hard for Roma to score 2 goals at Old Trafford but when the Ref awarded an inexistent penalty. I thought this was going to be one hell of a long night but De Rossi showed his class by sending the ball skywards, to my relief. I think penalty ball has landed in my back garden. I’ll sell it on Ebay soon.

Roma never really troubled a United side which was resting Rooney, Ronaldo, Scholes and Evra. We were also missing Nani and Vidic while Rio played most of the game injured. Still we managed to win thanks to an amazing diving header by Tevez which met an inch perfect cross by Hargreaves.

United really should have scored more, both Hargreaves and Park had great chances. The former, in my opinion, was the man of the match. He delivered mouth watering crosses with one of them being directed to the back of the net by Tevez. Anyway I can look forward to United vs Barcelona in a fortnight. I really feel this could be our year.

Meanwhile in the Premiership our next match is Vs Arsenal. With the form we’re in we could beat anyone so BRING ‘EM ON!!

M'Boro 2 - 2 United

VDS

Two points dropped and our lead at the top of the table is cut to 3 points. We've got some tough matches ahead and I really believe our title bid is in shambles. Arsenal coming up, Blackburn away, Chelsea away etc.. I've got a bad feeling we will blow it.

Anyway this was a pulsating game of football and an eye pleaser for a neutral. Not for Man Utd fans though. Ronaldo gave United the lead thanks to a scrappy goal. Boro managed to get 2 goals but Rooney scored the equaliser thanks to excellent work by Park.

This was a different United we've been watching recently. Maybe the weather conditions did dent our performance but there again, M'Boro were playing in the same conditions as United. Giggs had another horrible game. To be honest Brown, Ferdinand, O'Shea, Carrick & Tevez all had a disappointing game. It was all down to Park who managed to set Rooney up and spare our blushes. Ronaldo didn't have the best of games, mainly because whenever he dribbled past a defender the latter would bring him down intentionally.

Our next match is vs Roma at home. I hope Rio gets over his injury and I hope to see Vidic return as soon as possible. Our defence without him doesn't look reliable.

Until then, KEEP THE RED FLAG FLYING HIGH! United may have lost some precious points, but we're still in pole position.

Roma 0 - 2 United

VDS

Although the starting line up and the positions did raise a few eyebrows, Ferguson was proven right once again as United cruised to a 2-0 victory away to Roma. United operated on the counter attack and this system did pay dividends as both of our goals were the finishing product of a counter attack. Ronaldo headed superbly to put our noses in front while Rooney got another morale boosting goal.

I am over the moon because of this result which in all fairness could have been even greater had Carrick scored from an ideal position. The maltese 'experts' on melita sports kept insisting that Roma were the better team. Roma did play well at certain times but they rarely troubled our defence which was exceptional. I bet the maltese 'expert' didn't realise that United had more shots on target and looked threatening whenever they attacked. I guess he is just a biased, Italian football supporter.

The team today was exceptional and everyone played a huge part in this success, although Anderson did delude a little. I bet he's too young to handle a typical Champions League match. VDS together with his defence were amazing. The only down was the Injury to Vidic. He seems to have damaged his ligaments which will undoubtly rue him out for most of the remaining matches. The 2nd leg will be held next week at OT. I expect nothing but a win and keep marching on towards the Semi Final. Maybe this year we could get a step further than last year. I hope so.

United 4 - 0 Aston Villa

Kuszczak

Brown Rio Vida Evra

Ronaldo Scholes Carrick Giggs

Rooney Tevez

Another mind blowing performance by United. Ronaldo and Rooney tore Villa apart, the former displaying breath taking skills and the latter bagging a brace. Tevez got his name on the scoresheet too with a fine header.

Ronaldo's goal had class written over it, playground stuff. The second goal was beautifully worked by Rooney, Scholes andRonaldo while Tevez completed the icing on the cake. Meanwhile Rooney finally scored at Old Trafford after a worrying drought. Hopefully he'll keep on banging goals till the end of the season. It's nothing less than he deserves.

I'm quite pleased Rooney got 2 goals today, while I just ran out of adjectives for Ronaldo. He's simply the best player in the world. Apart from scoring a goal he produced 3 assists today. Giggs played quite well too infact he was a constant threat on the left wing. Carrick and Scholes bossed the midfield and the defenders were once again 'spot on'. The goalie made a terrific save too.

We are on top of the Premier League, Arsenal seem to be losing ground and our main threat is now Chelsea. If United keep focused I can't find a reason why we shouldn't retain the title.

Our next match is vs AS Roma at the Olimpico. It will be a tough match. I hope we get that important away goal.
