United 4-1 M'Boro

Starting Line Up:
VDS
Brown, Ferdinand, Vidic, O’Shea
Ronaldo, Anderson, Hargreaves, Nani
Rooney, Tevez

Another 4 goals, and once again I got what I wanted, a thrilling display of football a couple of goals and the 3 points. The Tevez & Rooney partnership continued to flourish and what a goal this couple managed to produce! I’m referring to the 3rd goal. Anyway United opened the scoring with a sublime strike by Nani after only 3 minutes, Boro got back in the game with a fine goal after O’Shea was given a turnabout but dominant United finished the game in style with a goal by Rooney and a brace by Tevez.

So the game got off to a flyer, United scored immediately through Nani, the winger cut in from the left and smashed a bending strike into the top corner. Class. But Boro managed to equalize minutes later. Some sloppy defending allowed Aliadiere to head home. Boro looked dangerous on various occasions but it was United who took the lead after half an hour through Wayne Rooney. An error by Downing allowed Rooney to score. The first half ended 2-1, to be honest United could have been further ahead had Tevez & Ronaldo capitalized on their chances.

The second half started and once again United were keen to finish off Boro and 10 minutes in the second half we witnessed a move that left me and my mates gobsmacked. It was outstanding football really, Rooney was thoroughly involved and Tevez finished the move after a series of one two’s. If you didn’t watch the match, make sure you watch the replay. My verdict? Pure Class. United continued to flow and it was Tevez who finished off M’Boro. Another good understanding between Rooney and Tevez with the latter completing the icing on the cake.

Another 3 points won against a team we only managed to draw last season. Some gorgeous football finished off the Boro side. Our next hurdle is Arsenal, if we play like we’ve been doing for the past couple of weeks we’ll give high flying Arsenal a tough time. Arsenal will play tomorrow at Anfield and I hope points are dropped there. If this happens, a win against the Gunners next week will put us on top of the table…only if.

Dynamo Kiev 2 - 4 United

The Line Up:
VDS
Brown Rio Vidic Evra
Ronaldo Anderson O' Shea Giggs
Rooney Tevez

Another win in the Champions League, this time away to Dynamo Kiev. It was an exceptional performance up front, a real joy to watch. So we scored another 4 goals, the third successive game United have struck four goals. This proves that our attack has improved and at last it is working after witnessing a lot of 1-0 wins. Ferdinand opened the score sheet , Rooney bagged another while Ronaldo scored two, one of them coming from the spot.

From the first minute, United looked like they were up for the job, that of winning and virtually guaranteeing a place in the second round of this competition. Ferdinand opened the score with a superb header, his second goal in a week. United continued to flow and were dangerous on several occasions until a great build up lead to Brown square passing the ball to Rooney, with the latter scoring a tap in. The players made the build up look so easy! Dynamo got back into the game with a header by one of their players. To be honest the United defence had a major fault, they left the Dynamo player unmarked. Then it was time for Giggs to remind us how good he really is, especially after his recent dip in form in the Premier League. He made a breathtaking run and produced an immaculate cross which Ronaldo finished superbly. The first half came to an end, the best 1st half performance from United this season. Hands down.

The second half was more entertaining since Dynamo offered some resistance to United. In fact Dynamo were dangerous on a couple of occasions but it was United that were the best team on the pitch. Some fine link ups between Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez pleasured all United fans and finally we got our 4th. This time it was from the penalty spot, with Ronaldo scoring his second of the game. Dynamo kept the game alive with a great goal by Ismael Bangoura, Van Der Sar should have done better but I guess he was injured since later he got substituted by Kuschak.

Another win and suddenly I feel like United could do what they did last year, but even better! After the slow start to the season, and some boring matches in the process, United finally seem to have gelled. What is so great about this night’s win is that it is an away win, something we failed to do last season in nearly all away Champions League fixtures apart from the Lille and Benfica games. Anyway now United need to focus on the Premier League, and try to decrease the margin between them and Arsenal. They won 7-0 this evening, a really impressive scoreline. Their next match is agains Liverpool at Anfield, so I hope points are dropped there. Anyway our next match is vs Middlesbrough, a win with a couple of goals will do. Obviously, I want my beloved United to win, but winning in style is always a pleasure. Who would deny that?

Villa 1 - 4 United

The Line Up:
Van der Sar,
Pique, Brown, Ferdinand, Evra,
Giggs, Anderson, Scholes, Nani,
Tevez, Rooney.
Another 3 points in the bag and finally we are watching the type of football everyone loves watching. 2 Goals by Rooney, a goal by Ferdinand and an Own goal gave United all the points. The score could have been bigger if United were more adventurous having a two man advantage but somehow could score more. Rooney was very unlucky not to get a hat trick after missing a penalty and cracked a shot off the bar.

The first half was dramatic to say the least. United were losing to a goal by Agbonlahor until the last 10 minutes when 2 goals by Rooney and a goal by Ferdinand (Some may argue that it was an own goal, all I know is that it’s a goal and that’s what matters!) literally demoralized Villa. So the half time score was 3-1 and I was a very happy man, or boy anyway.

The Second half began and Villa looked threatening but thanks to Pique who cleared off the line they didn’t get into the game and that chance was indeed their last chance. United were in total control especially when Reo Coker was sent off and later goalkeeper Carson was dismissed too. But we didn’t have it all our way since a penalty by Wayne Rooney was saved by Taylor, and later Rooney’s shot cracked off the bar.

Another great game and alas, this is the United we know. Great football by all the players Tevez was exceptional and so was Rooney. He is nearing his peak, 4 goals in a week and the one vs Russia was pretty special although worthless. So now we are keeping the pressure on Arsenal who won again today, they really should beware, why? Because finally the United team is gelling, and are playing great football. Our next match is vs Dinamo Kiev in the champions league and then a tricky home game vs Middlesborough. I predict two wins, but we'll just wait and see.

I’m sorry for the quality of this week’s article but I’m in a hurry to go out with my friends, so no ratings today. Adios!

United 4-0 Wigan

Line Up:
Kuzchack
O'Shea Vidic Ferdinand Evra
Ronaldo Scholes Anderson Giggs
Tevez Rooney
This was destined to be a day from hell for the Red Devils until Tevez scored. Saha got injured prior Kickoff, and Vidic and O Shea limped off the field during the first half. Thanks to a great goal by Tevez, 2 goals by Ronaldo and an unusual header by Rooney United won this enjoyable match and now we are on TOP OF THE TABLE(at least for 24hrs) and I’m on top of the world after this performance.

But it wasn’t an enjoyable first half, although it was clear United were the better team we didn’t capitalise on our chances. We had a handful of corners but none were effective, the players should train hard on set pieces. So Wigan managed to contain United, I thought it was going to be one of those days just until the second half started…

In the second half United were simply brilliant, they were explosive and could have scored instantly. Giggs hit the bar but minutes later Tevez battled his way past the Wigan defence and scored a great goal after two great passes by Rooney and Anderson. Ronaldo added 2 more goals the former coming from a simple header while the latter coming after unselfish play by Rooney. And he [Rooney] was later rewarded with a goal of his own, a header concluding a Simpson cross. United could have scored more but somehow Wigan managed to keep the scoreline 4-0. Earlier in the 2nd half Wigan had a good chance of their own when Valencia’s shot was brilliantly saved by our Polish goalkeeper.

The second half was an excellent display of attacking football, Scholes was the engine of the team, while Rooney and Ronaldo drove the team forward. All the players had a good game, although some were inexistent in the 1st half. I was impressed by Simpson, and Pique justified his reputation of being a great centre back. All in all I’m really pleased, in my last blog I stated that I was desperate to see United play last year’s football, well they did today and stuffed Wigan with 4 great team goals and as the match commentator said, “The Good Times Are Back At Old Trafford.”

Now we face Aston Villa away from home in a fortnight, it will be a difficult match since Aston Villa seem to be very strong at home but although I’m not expecting the Champaign football we witnessed in today’s second half I expect a win.
For these 2 weeks I’ll be supporting my beloved England, the 3 lions are on the right track after their recent wins and I don’t expect Estonia to derail England!
Soooo, Come On ENGLAND!
Player Ratings: Kuzchak-7, Simpson[in for Oshea]-8, Ferdinand-8, Pique[in for Vidic]-7. Evra-7, Ronaldo-9, Scholes-9, Anderson-8, Giggs-7, Tevez-8, Rooney-9. (subs:Nani-6)

United 1 - 0 Roma

Kuzchak
O’Shea Rio Vida Evra
Ronaldo Carrick Scholes Nani
Rooney Saha

So United played Roma for the 3rd time in less than 6 months or so. This game was a different as Chalk and Cheese from the 7-1 win last season. A moment of brilliance from Rooney sealed another 1-0 win.

The first half offered little notable actions, surprise surprise! All shots on goal weren’t threatening except for a Rooney shot, who with all respect, should have done better. The First half ended 0-0, no surprises there now we’re used to that half time score line.
United kicked off the second half quite promisingly, in fact Nani somehow hit the bar from an angled cross. Minutes later a Wayne Rooney shot was saved by the Roma goalkeeper. Saha who had a quiet performance was replaced by Tevez, and United scored instantly but the goal was rightly disallowed. But the deadlock was broken seconds later when Rooney finished off a brilliant build up by United with Nani being the assist. Roma could have scored had it not been a great tackle by Ferdinand. Roma were once again dangerous but thankfully they have an Idiot called Perrotta who didn’t realize that he was at the mercy of an open goal and decided to pass. A right idiot at the right place and time! Roma kept insisting and were clearly the better team in the last 10 minutes, to make matters worse Ronaldo had to leave the field since he got elbowed but the referee finally whistled the end of the match to my relief.

Another 3 points in the champions league and I believe another 6 points from 4 matches should do the job. The match ignited in its latter stages, namely after the Rooney goal when Roma could have scored on more than 1 occasion. Although it is clear that the Man Utd defence isn’t confident in Kuzczak, he had a good game. We know that we’ve got a good cover in case of Van der Sar’s absence. Although I’m desperate to see United score more goals a 1-0 win in the Champions league, against an Italian side is good. Beating an Italian team always makes my day, especially a team which contains a certain player called Totti. I never liked him, and never will!

Overall it was a great defensive display, and an average attacking display. But it was better than some of this season’s premiership matches. I’m happy with the result but desperate to see United play like last season.

Ratings: Kus-7, O’shea-6, Ferdinand-8, Vidic-7, Evra-7, Ronaldo-7, Scholes-7, Carrick-6, Nani-8, Saha-6, Rooney-7. (Giggs-6, Anderson-6, Tevez-7)
